Ever wanted perform on stage?

Ever wanted to write jokes?

Ever wanted to tell your jokes on stage?

Ever wanted the confidence just to get up on stage

in the first place?

Why not join up for Shoe Cake Comedy’s 'Stockton On Tee-Hee's' stand up comedy course -

hosted at the historic Georgian Theatre venue in Stockton.

Both Shoe Cake Comedy and The Georgian Theatre are passionate about the arts and really enjoy discovering new local talent in the hope of helping them to develop and pursue further opportunities in the entertainment sector.

Over the 6 Tuesday's (and 1 Sunday) of this course you’ll learn all the important aspects of stand up comedy… from writing jokes to having the confidence to get up and tell them, and all in a totally safe and respectful environment that will give you the freedom to express yourself. Each session is tutored by an experienced stand up comedian along with an experienced award winning promoter and comedian …

What’s not to gain?

It’s also a great way to meet new friends, improve your confidence, take those first steps onto the stand up ladder (if you choose to do so), and above all … have some fun.

You may have already dipped your toes into the deep end of comedy before and perhaps want to fine tune your act and take it to the next level? Or you may be a total newbie who has always wanted to try stand up but never had the opportunity? Whatever your reason, everyone on the course will receive support and guidance at a pace suitable for your own level of confidence and ability.

The Course

Each week you and your fellow course members will explore a carefully tailored programme that will take you through the stages of writing and performing a 3 - 5 minute stand up comedy set. You then have the “option” to perform this set in front of a live audience at the end of week 6 on the glorious Georgian Theatre stage. This is where you can invite all of your friends and family along and show them how much you have developed in just 6 weeks of learning comedy ... or, if you don't fancy performing, just join the audience yourself to support your course colleagues.

The workshop sessions are held in The Green Room, Green Dragon Studio’s, Green Dragon Yard.

"He Smashed it"

Jason Manford

"Fran Garrity had a bit more 'bite' than most on the bill, and the crowd took to it with energy. His self-deprecating stuff about his Teesside heritage was gritty and punchy, backed up with a

keenness in observation and a good turn-of-phrase"
